WHO AM I?

Born and raised in Vancouver I am fortunate to call this city my home and also where I enjoy my career as a registered massage therapist. With a natural keen interest in biology and massage my path has led me to what I do now and have been doing for over three and a half years. It is my philosophy that the healthier the therapist is the more effective they are at providing beneficial therapeutic treatments. As such I practice incorporating the benefits I gain from being outdoors, practicing yoga, meditating and receiving therapeutic treatments to my clients on the table. I also love learning about human anatomy and taking that same passion and integrating this knowledge to better asses my client’s body. My massage treatments seek to provide a positive, attentive, therapeutic environment that helps the body return to optimal health. I look forward to meeting with you soon.

My Therapeutic Work & Core Values

Understanding how the body works on all levels (muscles, nervous system, organs etc) and how they relate to the client’s condition by:

  • ○ Effective assessments and therapeutic techniques for each individual client.
  • ○ Adjusting to the unique needs of each client on every visit.
  • ○ To treat the main cause(s) of a client’s problems so the benefits are short and long term.
  • To work actively with clients and to provide a safe, positive therapeutic experience with the aim of:

  • ○ Encouraging client’s to feel free to ask questions and share symptoms during treatment.
  • ○ Empowering clients’ awareness of their body through education.
  • ○ Working with all other health practitioners to ensure patients receive appropriate care.
  • TECHNIQUES

This is a summary of some of the techniques I regularly practice:

  • Swedish & Deep Tissue Massage: One of the most well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Therapists use a combination of swedish techniques with the application of oil to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.

  • Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy: Therapists found a relationship between chronic pain and its source, myofascial trigger point therapy is sued to relieve muscular pain and dysfunction through applied pressure to trigger points of referred pain and through stretching exercises. These points are defined as localized areas in which the muscle and connective tissue are highly sensitive to pain when compressed. Pressure on these points can send referred pain to other specific parts of the body.

  • Muscle Energy Techniques:Muscle energy is a direct, noninvasive manual therapy used to normalize joint dysfunction and increase range of motion. The practitioner evaluates the primary areas of dysfunction in order to place the affected joints in precise positions that enable the client to perform gentle isometric contractions. These directed movements help correct neuromuscular and joint difficulties.

  • Craniosacral Therapy: This technique is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. The system produces a physiological rhythm that is affected when there is a dysfunction in the body. Using a soft touch the therapist locates stuck areas in the body and help release these restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.

  • Visceral Manipulation: When the body is at its optimal health the body remains stable. But when organs can’t move in harmony with its surrounding viscera it works against the body’s organs and structures. This creates fixed, abnormal points of tension that the body is forced to move around. That chronic irritation, in turn, paves the way for disease and dysfunction such as back pain, headaches, gastric reflex and urinary bladder infections. This technique is a gentle hands-on therapy that works through the body’s visceral system to locate and alleviate these abnormal points of tension throughout the body
